Apollo Information Services, Inc. (AISI), the largest medical coding and billing company in southwest Florida, announced that it has added a new consulting service line. Apollo’s reimbursement professionals have begun working with hospital clients, teaching them the AISI facility coding philosophy.

According to John Fraley, Apollo’s President, “we recently worked with a large hospital system in Missouri and estimated an increase in their revenue of over $2.9M using a new analytical method that we believe is the best in the country. We are able to project hospital revenue increases and help with the revenue cycle management.” The company is able to complete an analysis of all facility coding, missed opportunities, and compliance, in a concise format that immediately demonstrates the financial impact. Fraley continued, “we increased revenue at another large Tennessee based hospital system by over $3M using our highly compliant professional coding methodologies.

AISI brings a new level of effectiveness and efficiency to the medical coding and billing industry. Because of its ability to increase client revenues, AISI sees great potential while many organizations see confusion in healthcare reform. Fraley added, “We see this as an opportunity. Many hospitals will be in turmoil as they seek to offset the expected cuts in Medicare by cutting costs and improving collections.” Apollo’s current volume of facility coding has increased substantially in the past year to over 200,000 patient visits annually and is expected to expand dramatically over the next 12 months.

AISI is also expected to increase its hospitalist billing practice over the next six months. Currently providing billing services for ten facilities, AISI predicts a 400% growth rate in this service line next year.

Located in Fort Myers since 1998, Apollo performs medical coding and billing services on behalf of nearly 1,000 physician and midlevel providers in over 70 emergency departments and clinics throughout the country. The organization, one of Lee County’s largest employers, expects to complete the billing for over 1.7 million patients in 2011.

Apollo Information Services announced today their participation in the Florida Trends Magazine – Best Companies to Work for in 2011. The program is designed to recognize outstanding places of employment within Florida.

"We have always said that Apollo is a great place to work and now we have the opportunity to prove it," said John Fraley, President of Apollo. "We’ve been recognized here in Lee County as one of the top employers, why not the entire state of Florida," Fraley added.

As part of the program’s progress Apollo employees are being asked to complete a confidential online survey being administered by a third-party agency which will be solely responsible for tabulating ratings. Initially, Apollo management had to complete a lengthy questionnaire about the company’s policies, benefits, overall workforce demographics, and general working conditions. "The survey was very intensive," said John Mantica, VP of HR. Upon completion of the management survey, the company found the following:

Voluntary turnover at the company in 2010 was 5% while the industry average voluntary turnover was 16.9%

Workforce age range is 21.5 to 75.9 years old, 4% of the employees over 70, and 38% of employees are either African American or Hispanic

$808,000 was given to employees in bonus pay in 2010

Since 2002, company employees have pledged $375,000 to the local United Way

Unlike many employers throughout Florida, in 2010, Apollo had 0% turnover due to staff reductions (layoffs), created 11 new positions, hired 31 people, and filled 89% of positions internally.

Florida Trends will announce winners later in 2011.
